The 'repair season' this year was dominated by earthworks, demolitions and cleaning. So we have done:
Large barn on the border of Tara's land, unusable because of destruction and distance to other buildings. In February we was obligated do dismantle the roof and secure walls from getting wet. The problem was the roof framing was joining walls – when it was dismantled one of the wall had fallen. Next writ was clear – complete dismantling of the barn. This job was done by hired company with huge excavator.

This building, in the close neighborhood of our main gate, was almost without roof coat. Crumbling wall was a threat to people. Using excavator building was dismantled.

In the very middle of our yard, between two stables – 52m long, 30 m wide and 3 m deep. Filled with old bottles, rubble and debris was a serious threat for our animals and – additionally – it was a big obstacle on our 'communication paths' in the Yard. Using specialized building equipment all debris was removed as well as first layer of basis.

After that ditches were digged by excavator and drainage pipes with large diameter were installed. These pipes, joined in one point, had connection with drainage ditch.

Later on whole terrain was covered by water-permeable layers and – in the end – layer of soil.

After leveling, huge, safe, drained square was ready. It will be used as a paddock in the middle of our yard. Additionally, while working on the paddock, routes for tractors and other equipment have been widened.

After leveling whole yard, to allow water to be drained, drainage ditches were repaired or restored in the whole Tara's terrain.

With authorization granted by local authority we removed 120 trees from our land. Most of them grew along the ditch crossing our grassland. Trees – strictly speaking poplars – have grown over decades to enormous size. There have been causing serious threat for animals grazing here. Falling branches, sometimes thick as man's waist, have broken fences and brought mess to grassland. They did make a huge threat.

Obtained wood was cut on milling saw, which with rented with machinists by the Foundation.

About 90 poplars were cut – with diameter up to 120cm. All derived wood is perfect to build fences in the future.

A year before 10 rooms for our volunteers were prepared on the 2 floor. This year central heating have been installed there.

We have changed central heating stove to one big enough to heat both floors.

Water was provided everywhere and we prepared a complex bathroom including two toilet seats, two shower cabines and two sinks.

We all know how important water is. But when there are 80 horses on the grassland – who need fresh water all the time – it's easier to understand how important it is to have running water. To that date we had supplied water using tractor and 1000 liters barrels. This year there have been a breakthrough. We have hired a company specializing in building wells. They have built two 12-meters deep bores on the grasslands – 20 km away from the Shelter, where our horses graze each year. After cleaning them our horses can enjoy fresh, cold water during hot days.
